The life of a disappeared worker
Someday, I will click on my dashboard, and it will say I have eight paid subscribers instead of seven, or maybe eight hundred. Then, I would not have to be conflicted about why I am doing this, although I know the answer is because I have, to live a purposeful life, first and foremost. When one commits to a path, it continues to reveal where it is leading, but not without dedicated intent and faith in the unknown.
I have been an unpaid independent research journalist for about 15 years writing hundreds of posts documenting my research within the context of a life lived. The archives are not only on Substack and Medium but also on Blogger, where there are 363 published posts for Preserving the American Political Philosophy and 230 drafts.
In this newsletter, I sometimes examine how large institutions devise ways to avoid paying workers as I participate as an unpaid peer reviewer for Humanities and Social Sciences Communications. The title I have identifies that the world of institutionalized academics are my peers but I am not a member of the institutional academic world.
