Senator Reny’s Bill, (Maine) The Pros and the Cons
Senator Reny’s bill addresses the working class-ownership class divide in Maine but favors collectivism over individuality and personal choice, while offering a little hope.
I think Senator Reny is creating important legislation that addresses the loss of ownership among the working classes. Her recent legislation LD 554 gives mobile and manufactured home owners an opportunity to own the land their home occupies by creating a tax deduction that benefits housing parks sold to consumer cooperatives or cooperative affordable housing. The business receiving the deduction cannot be publicly traded, but can be an S corporation (sole proprietorship) as defined by Title 13, chapter 85, subchapter 1-A.-
My impression is that the act is written in support of collective group-think organizations and non-profits with parts that allow for individuals and free enterprise, and even a surprise ending, which I will get to at the end.
